Bergamot (Citrus Bergamia Risso) is thought to have originated from crossing bitter orange with acidic lime. Evidence suggests that this citrus landed in the South of Italy from the East between the 14th and 16th century. Grown in Sicily and Calabria, Bergamot is widely used today for essential oil and teas. Its tart and highly fragrant flavor make it a pleasant and exquisite combination with creamy and soft cheese. One of our favorite marmalades!
